Air Source Heat Pump “Boilers” (Air to Water Heat Pumps)
Benefits of an air source heat pump
When it comes to providing a domestic heating and hot water solution that cuts your heating and hot water costs, and reduce your carbon footprint, air source heat pump “boilers” (air to water heat pumps) satisfy these demands in every way. By converting the free and sustainable latent energy that’s in the air all around us into heat, these systems deliver green, low-cost, energy-saving heating and hot water all year round.
.
By transferring the heat energy obtained from the outside air into water, air source heat pump “boilers” can be used with a new or existing low temperature emitter type water filled heating system, providing low cost heating throughout the year. There is also the advantage of being able to connect the heat pump system to a new or existing hot water distribution system to provide domestic hot water.
Selected air source heat pump “boilers” offer the facility to reverse the refrigerant cycle to provide chilled water, suitable for space cooling when used in conjunction with fan coil units.
Some air source heat pump “boilers” offer the potential to work in conjunction with other heating and energy saving technologies. If required, systems can be designed to work in conjunction with an existing fossil fuel boiler, solar panels, photovoltaic panels etc. giving flexible, energy saving, solutions to domestic and light commercial heating requirements.
Daikin Altherma System – offers flexibility in designing domestic heating (cooling is also an option) and hot water requirements.
The system is based upon three key elements A – Absorber (outdoor unit), B- Boiler (Hydro box) and C – Cylinder (domestic hot water tank). The illustration shows some suitable low temperature emitter options.
